A young single mother who lives with her mother will strive and do anything to provide for her only son. Rebecca (Oge Okoye) struggles to take care of her son and with the help of her friend, she leaves the village for the city in pursuit of a better life. She runs into her ex-boyfriend and the father of her son,Quincy( Jim Iyke) who barely survives himself. Through a series of events, she meets a wealthy man who lusts after her, Gerald (Olu Jacobs). She has to cater for her son who lives with his grandmother in the village. She has to choose between staying with Quincy who will do anything to keep her or Gerald who can administer the right amount of money for the life she desires.

Sometimes I watch some Nigerian movies and I wonder how some of the actors accept the roles they are offered. First, I could have done without Quincy (Jim Iyke) in the movie, though he was the boy’s father. I think he is an amazing actor that adds humor to his movies; whether he acts as a gangster, the son of a wealthy man or the son of the poorest man. But in this movie, I didn’t see the need for his part. I felt they could have given the role to probably a B-list star. His role was accomplished in a terrific manner especially in a scene where he brought breakfast ( Agege bread and two bags of pure water) in bed for Rebecca, obviously she didn’t appreciate it and Quincy said “It’s NAFDAC  water by the way, which is more expensive than common water.” I found that scene hilarious.

I thought this movie lacked suspense because I could figure out what would happen within the first few minutes of a scene. This isn’t uncommon in Nigerian movies but I still wanted to be wrong at some assumptions I made. I recommend this movie because one gets to see Olu Jacobs in a ridiculous role which some people might find annoying or surprising .This movie is available on www.video.onlinenigeria.com.

A PRAYER FOR MY SPIRIT

by Japheth J Omojuwa
I Pray
That I will see the beauty in every shadow
That I bask in the warmth of every light’s glow
That the passing of day will birth my fame
And as I sleep,I cease to be same.

I Pray
For a heart that will love even in pain
A soul that will give without an intent to gain
For a tongue that speaks not to break
But words only for men to make.

I Pray
For fulfilment in the midst of wealth
For significance in every Success birth
That I will have Joy even when not happy
That I will celebrate God and His Glory.

I Pray
That I find The Way,The Truth and The Life
To give me hope and victory through every strife
And for all that happens positive or odd
I will get on my knees and Thank God.
I Pray

Here’s one prayer I believe will resonate with your spirit. You can copy and use it anytime. It sure works.

Off Sinzu’s upcoming mixtape, I like the flow but the excessive use of auto-tune is questionable, but hey its still Sinzu.

Orleans Designs…

Hazel Aggrey-Orleans, lady behind Orleans Designs was born in Germany but grew up in Nigeria. After spending 17 years in Nigeria, she returned to Germany for a year before moving to the UK, where she is currently based. She worked in financial marketing for over 8 years before she decided to be self-employed and venture into the fashion industry.

I have always loved colours and it only seemed natural to start off with a collection of scarves combining African and Indian prints- two cultures that play around beautifully with colour. A few years later, I decided to focus my designs purely on African prints and have not looked back ever since. All our fabric prints are created in-house and we work very closely with a highly skilled London based factory to create our dresses. Hope you enjoy them

Orleans designs is a new women’s wear fashion label opting for a contemporary take  on African textures, by fusing the vivacity of African prints with the delicate texture of silk . Clean cuts and vibrant coloured prints embody the pieces in this collection. Each print design is carefully though through with our in-house design team to create that certain African flair. All designs are then printed onto beautiful soft silk fabrics giving it an extra luxurious sheen.

This collection draws inspiration from Hazel’s vibrant West African heritage, where street markets sell “jewel coloured clothesalongside “bright exotic fruits”.

“I am passionate about mixing and matching colours and I have nothing more than to make a stunning entrance. My collection accentuates the feminine, the brave and the sexy within all of us and it’s my mission to bring out the colourful goddess in every woman” Hazel Aggrey-Orleans

Sauce Kid – Under G

Over the last few weeks, Saucekibaba has had the internet going nuts with word of a heavy collaboration with the legendary Don Jazzy called “Under G”. With this track, I am pleased to say Sinzu has proved, again, why he should be respected on  the Naija music scene and why you should be a big fan.

“Under G” is a confirmed hit! With  African American expected to drop next month, this song is a good sign of big things to be expected from an album which has already delivered quality like “Monkey Banana” and “Na Me Be FineBoy”. If you liked “Omoba” this is your song.  Expect this track to be on every DJ’s mix and club  playlist for a long minute.

The Diary of a Perverted Celibate ( Chapter 9 )

My  tears are flowing like the Brazilian Iguazu falls now but only within me. I felt the path of flow of my tears inside of me as pain gripped my soul. The army suddenly became one mass of fire ball as it gathered in size and intensity. It filled every space my eyes could see even as I said a prayer for the first time in a long while. Just kill me and get this over with for God’s sake. Amen!. I knew something was wrong with my prayer but I felt I had said enough for Him to hear me. Aren’t you closer to His throne when you are dead? Okay you might not know that as you have never been dead. I had a conviction my prayers had been answered when the ball of burning fire headed in my direction. I prayed for death even when I knew I was already dead but still I had an instinctive urge to run. I did not. I just stood there motionless waiting for the inevitable. This death would be the consumption of my soul and my spirit. When the ball of fire finally encircled me I burnt with fear and pain inside of me but I realised it was not the fire, it was the sound in the fire. I heard human voices wailing, shouting and crying. I heard voices but I could not understand anything they were saying. It sounded like the voices of men and women in agony wanting to be set free. I was not burnt or consumed by the fire but I was right inside it. My eyes saw nothing but the glow of fire but my spirit was disturbed by the lamentations of souls apparently burning in the fire, souls I could not see. If this was a game to kill me from within, it was working until the fire packed up and moved upward above my head. It gathered directly above me as I raised my head to look at it. It formed a circle over what looked like a sky dripping with blood as it boiled before my eyes forming bubbles of red. Suddenly, like a gathering of drops of water, it formed a calm single massive body . The mass began to take shape and I realised I was looking at the head of a man whose body appeared to be buried in the boiling blood. When I asked myself who or what this could be, I heard his voice clearly even as it sounded like the whole world was talking to me at the same time. I have never heard anything that loud and scary but they were not my only fear, I would take fear over looking at his face but I really could not die anymore as death seemed to be a baby compared to the fear I felt. He spoke a language I should not understand but my spirit heard it right and clearly…MY NAME IS ZENTHA, ZENTHA LU’ ZUATHA. THIS IS THE GATE OF HELL!!
